After a dynamic five months as Interim Executive Director of HealthlinkNY, Staci Romeo, MBA has landed the job officially. The organization, which runs New York State's Health Information Exchange (HIE) in the 13 counties of the Catskill, Hudson Valley, and Souther Tier regions has seen rapid growth since Romeo took over on January 1, 2018.
Since the beginning of the year, Romeo has presided over large increases--compared to the same period the previous year--in key metrics including:
Provider users by 18%
Patient consents by 19.6%
Patient record-lookups by 57.6%
As of the end of May, HealthlinkNY had collected an astounding 1.5 million total patient consents.
Under Romeo's leadership, HealthlinkNY renewed its focus on the "customer" or, in this case, the providers who use the HIE to view their patients complete medical histories. Through the HIE, they can connect to their patients' other healthcare providers leading to more efficient, safer medicine.
"We want providers to sign up and use the HIE. The underlying mission of HealthlinkNY is to make people and communities healthier," she said.
Romeo previously served as HealthlinkNY's Senior Vice President and Comptroller.
